“Comes with the package, I thought you read the fine print.” Steve turned around so he was walking backwards for a moment, grinning at Boss as he did so. The familiarity of Boss’ home was comforting and he paused for a moment after he stepped through the doorway. He watched for a moment as Boss took off his boots. Following suit, Steve took the time to unlace his own while leaning against the wall.
Nodding at the already retreating form, Steve walked in the other direction and towards the bedroom. Wanting to change out of his fatigues, Steve dropped his bag on the edge of the bed. Shortly the pilot was dressed in a pair of slacks and a plain tee shirt. Pausing for a moment, Steve’s fists curled and tightened. The anxiousness kept creeping up on him, though he only shook his head and moved out of the room towards the kitchen.
Once at the threshold, Steve paused once more. Eyes followed Boss as he moved around the kitchen. There was a bit of guilt in Steve’s features right before he was grinning again and entering the room. “Need any help?”
“Di’kut" was all that Boss said before he departed from the entry way.
He didn’t bother getting anything fancy going in the kitchen. It would have been a waste of time for now seeing as Cortez most likely quite hungry and not desiring to wait. For now, he would settle on making a round of hamburgers and fries—what seemed to be a customary “go-to” meal for this galaxy. Of course, things were a bit expensive now but the Alliance was paying his way so he could splurge a bit.
As he heard Steve approach the room, he smiled down as he watched the food continue to prepare. “Just have a seat…” He motioned to the small bar area to the side before continuing to work on the rather large hamburgers.
